- "Since ordering by mail ... involves some degreee of risk," mail order
- consumers should heed these cardinal rules:

- 1. Seek out (written) money-back guarantees and warranties.

- 2. Order COD or by credit card, (and) insist that the company not bill
- your account until it ships the order.

- 3. Avoid companies that require surcharges.

- 4. Read the fine print at the bottom of ads for any asterisks.

- 5. Call the company for explanations of unclear caveats or disclaimers.

- 6. Start small (by) ordering only inexpensive products ... until you
- establish confidence in it.

- P.S. Seek written recourse from the credit card firm for non-performanace
- following procedures usually printed on their montly statements.
